News Brief: New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins Secures Funding for Lyndhurst

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins has secured Lyndhurst Mansion an additional $200,000 in Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology Program (CREST) funding towards its ongoing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning project. This brings the total investment from New York State through the Majority Leader to $400,000.

Over time, the historic mansion has suffered from weather occurrences such as the effects of high temperatures and extreme fluctuations in humidity levels. This results not only in damage to the historic collections but also adds to guests’ discomfort when visiting in the summer months. While work to install air conditioning on the second floor and Grand Picture Gallery will begin soon, these recent new funds will allow for the expansion of this work. As such, the funds will allow for air conditioning to also be installed in the first-floor rooms and will provide essential temperature control to the Mansion’s collection storage.
