Neuberger Museum of Art: “backstory: Inventory”
This article originally appeared on “backstory,” a blog by Tracy Fitzpatrick, Director of the Neuberger Museum of Art.
Our performance art exhibition, Hard Return: 9 Experiments for this Moment, continues this week with a work by Purchase College Class of 1988 graduate Alix Pearlstein. Her work, Inventory, invites a group of current student ‘actors’ to examine a personal archive of objects from her previous artworks. Each day, the actions of these collaborators with her props, structures, and other objects will be committed to video. The videos then feed back into the work by serving as the point of departure for the next day’s performance. It will be much different then the last work. And I’m excited to see another of our Purchase alumni in the museum.
Inventory will be on view through Sunday. Hope to see you here.
