Arts organizations are swinging their way into the new year with a variety of upcoming dance events, leaving no leaf unturned: Irish step, modern, West African, ballet and more will take the stage, ushering us through winter and into spring.

This performance at Tarrytown Music Hall includes Rivertown Dance Academy faculty, guest artists, alumni and youth dancers. An afterparty will follow on stage with an Intro to Swing Dance lesson.

The new year kids off with the return of Dancing With the Stars: LIVE to the Westchester County Center. The ballroom will come to life with dazzling routines in a variety of styles.

This six-week African dance workshop will teach participants traditional West African dance moves, culminating in a final performance open to the public.

Ballet des Amériques and its founder, choreographer Carole Alexis, present a weekend with four dance performances in ArtsWestchester’s gallery in downtown White Plains. The program will feature both new works and fan favorites.

Presented by Performing Arts Center at Purchase College
This two-part work is set to a suite of operatic arias by Georg Fredric Handel, embodying the interplay of emotional and physical. The first part, To My Arms, deals intimately with love and loss. The second part, Restore fuses Handel’s 18th century choral score with beats more commonly heard in clubs around the globe.

Contemporary dance company A.I.M, led by Purchase alum Kyle Abraham, pushes boundaries with its blending of modern, contemporary, ballet and hip-hop, and incorporating storytelling and social commentary into their performances.
