An Important Message From the CEO of ArtsWestchester
Dear Friend of ArtsWestchester,
On Friday afternoon, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins released his proposed operating budget for 2026, allocating $2,539,811 to ArtsWestchester.
This represents a 14% reduction in arts funding which will significantly impact ArtsWestchester’s competitive grant making, services to the field, and support of county-wide arts programs. Given the current climate, a challenging budget cycle with reductions across the board was not unexpected, but a cut of this magnitude is devastating.
The budget is now in the hands of the Board of Legislators, which has the ability to add to or further reduce arts funding.
We need your help to advocate for a restoration of funding to ArtsWestchester and to support our mission to keep the arts accessible and vibrant in Westchester County.
Here are 3 ways you can help:
1. Write to or call your legislator. Send a personal note of gratitude for their long-time support of the arts with a story of how an ArtsWestchester or other arts program touched your life. Find your legislator and join our campaign to keep the arts thriving HERE.
2. Raise Your Voice for the Arts at a budget hearing. ArtsWestchester is seeking a limited number of volunteers to be present and/or share stories of impact at upcoming Board of Legislator budget hearings. Please email Susan Abbott at [email protected] if you are willing to provide a testimonial or attend a hearing.
3. Stand with ArtsWestchester and make a gift to the arts. Now more than ever, the arts need your support. As we strengthen our commitment to the cultural community and artistic freedom of speech, you can stand alongside us. Your gift of any amount matters. Donate here today.
Since 1965, ArtsWestchester has been making the arts happen. That legacy is powerful, but at this unique moment for our sector, it is also fragile. With your support, we will work to ensure that the arts continue to transform lives, strengthen communities and inspire hope.
With appreciation for your support,
Kathleen Reckling
