Artist Statement

I have dedicated my life to making sure that every child has an opportunity to feel the joy of creation and the safety of knowing they have something to contribute. I believe in theatre education as a force for a better world. Children who participate in theatre learn to use their voices and bodies properly and feel more confident in every aspect of life. Studies show that creative projects and hands-on learning can hone skills in literacy, math, history, science, public speaking, memorization, and research better than traditional education programs. Students feel safe expressing emotions while learning about discipline, commitment, teamwork, and taking pride in and ownership of their work. I love to meet students where they are, offering enrichment to uplift and empower them to stretch themselves to take risks and try new things.

Educational Background

Traci is a graduate of the Northwest Actors Studio Conservatory Program where she later taught acting and served as Program Director. She has worked professionally as an actress, singer, director, producer, administrator and teaching artist for more than twenty-five years. She studied under Frank Carucci and Allyson Starr in New York, and was mentored by Anne Graham, Anthony Curry and Susan diRende in Seattle. She is the Founder and Executive Artistic Director of the Thespian Arts Program and has performed, directed and taught extensively throughout Westchester, New York City and Seattle. She was a Producer and Co-host for Word of Mom Radio for two years. Traci is also on the board of the Runaway Theatre Company, a hall of fame member of Darknight Productions and former Co-Artistic Director of The Family Repertory Company. Directing credits include Last Few Steps, The Crucifixion and You Don’t Know How It Feels, in addition to numerous original short plays and children’s theatre productions. She has also produced nationwide events for Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns, the Opening Ceremonies of the JCC Maccabi Games at Madison Square Garden and a show in the NYC International Fringe Festival. Other day jobs were Financial Analyst for the Livanos Restaurant Group and Director of Operations for the International Poultry Company and Marketplace. In November 2021 she obtained her NYS Real Estate License, helping people find their dream homes. Traci considers herself a student of life and when she isn't teaching and learning from her students, she is taking classes to sharpen her skills.

Teaching Artist Experience

Traci began her journey as a teaching artist by accident. Many of the teachers she worked with in the Northwest Actors Studio Conservatory Program had moved on to other pursuits and she was brought in to facilitate a particular acting exercise for the new class. She found that helping others achieve the artistry she had striven for was incredibly satisfying. As an empath, she was able to tap into each students emotions and needs and help them find their own way to the work. Originally, she thought her calling was to train other serious theatre students like she herself had been, and put people onstage. Over the years, she realized that the social-emotional learning that aids in confidence, focus and other life skills, allowed all students to find their voice and feel comfortable in their body, and was the goal onto itself. Performance is icing on the cake. She taught acting and musical theatre for YTI for ten years, culminating in building two Summer Arts Camps in 2021 from the ground up. She was the Theatre Institute Director for the Bendheim Performing Arts Center and has worked with the Broadway Bound Program at CGPAC, the Advanced Musical Theatre Training Program at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, the Lighthouse Youth Theatre, Forbes Music Company, the Tarrytown YMCA, and the JCC-on-the-Hudson. Through her own company, Thespian Arts Program, she has given free programs at the library, offered programs at various community events, rented studios and in January of 2024 moved into the beautiful studio loft at 92 Main St. #203, Yonkers NY 10701. TAP is also a vendor with the City of Yonkers and during the 22-23 school year, implemented an arts program during Extended Learning Time at School 9. She did educational touring theatre with TALK (Take Action Listen to Kids) and Seattle Public Theatre. Her greatest joy is helping all young people explore their creativity and emotions in a safe environment, regardless of experience.
