My passion for the arts spans two art forms: Film and Theater. My work in film is focused on providing funding, resources and opportunities for emerging media makers of color. I accomplish this at Black Public Media, a national non-profit that brings stories about the African American and African Diaspora to the public. My work in theater spans 30 years. I began as an actress performing in plays and musicals in NYC and Los Angeles. But my true love of the art form, developed when I started teaching drama at NYC schools and after schools. There's nothing more satisfying than using the arts to show our youth what they are truly capable of doing. My most recent work has been with the Children's Theater Company, Peekskill, a dynamic and progressive youth theater company. I believe in the power of story. The process of making story can bring people together from all walks of life, teaching them how to work together, overcome differences, and learn something new. Whether the story is delivered electronically or to a live audience, a well told story can change minds and hearts.
