Artist Statement

Jehan Clements is a Storyteller, Author, Illustrator, Inventor, Teaching Artist, and Literacy Educational Consultant. He has performed in Elementary Schools, Libraries, Museums and Festivals in New York for the past 40 years.

Jehan is the inventor of: "The Storytelling Flip-Over Picture Book." Jehan is currently offering Storytelling performances of his original stories for elementary schools with illustrations from his published children's picture books.

For In-School and After-School Literacy Workshops: Jehan uses his second book invention, "The Do-It-Yourself Storytelling Book" in a "Creative Writing, Illustrating, and Book Publishing Workshop - Everyone Has a Story To Tell."  He will guide the students through the creative writing, illustrating and book making process. Once you know the who, where, when, what, how, and why of your story, the message that could only come from your mind and heart will lead you the rest of the way.  At the end of the workshop, the students will have a professionally bound book ready for them to read aloud to their classmates in school and to their family at home.  This book will be cherished by their family for years to come.
