Artist Statement

Susan Henle-Christensen is a professional dancer, choreographer, and arts consultant.  She is a Merce-Cunningham trained modern dancer who has performed regionally and internationally with a host of distinguished modern dance companies.  She has been choreographer for Summer Stock and Director of Stage Movement Characterization for off-Broadway.  Her modern and ballet choreography has been performed at universities, regional theaters, and public schools. Her most recent projects includes teaching "Movement Improvisation for Writers- Know your Character" at several universities;  among them, NYU and the New School, Eugene Lang College.  She currently, teaches movement, improvisation, and choreography to public school students, professional actors, dancers, and writers incorporating Laban's Effort Shape Theory.  She has successfully collaborated with teachers on numerous projects using core curriculum when teaching her art.
