Featuring a Special Performance by Hoff-Barthelson Student Musicians as Part of WCMS Youth Initiative

Rye, NY – The renowned Callisto Quartet will bring an afternoon of chamber music to Westchester on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 4:00 PM, performing at Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester (2125 Westchester Avenue, Rye, NY). The program will showcase an engaging mix of classical and contemporary works, featuring compositions by Joseph Haydn, Reena Esmail, and Antonín Dvořák. Grand Prize winners of the 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize Winners of the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Callisto Quartet has also taken home prizes from the Bordeaux, Melbourne, and Wigmore Hall competitions.

As part of the Westchester Chamber Music Society’s Youth Initiative, a student quartet from Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale will open the concert with an excerpt from Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A Minor, Op. 13. The young musicians will then participate in a mini-master class led by members of the Callisto Quartet.

The afternoon’s repertoire includes: Haydn – Quartet in C Major, Op. 76, No. 3 “Emperor”; Esmail – Ragamala; Dvořák – String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96, No. 12 “American”

Following the performance, audience members will have the opportunity to engage with the musicians in a live Q&A session, offering insight into their artistic process.
