Nine Westchester Arts Organizations Receive $1.93 Million in Capital Funds from New York State Council on the Arts

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (May 5, 2023) – Nine Westchester arts organizations were among the recipients of nearly $2 million in capital funding grants announced by Governor Kathy Hochul earlier this week.  The funds, which were awarded through New York State Council on the Arts, are intended to support crucial building renovations, accessibility improvements and new spaces for creative work. The $1.93 million allotment to Westchester groups is part of a record capital project funding announcement totaling $42 million awarded to 144 arts projects across the state.

“We are most grateful to Governor Hochul and New York State Council on the Arts for recognizing the importance of these Westchester cultural destinations and the need to sustain and upgrade them to ensure their longevity within our communities,” says Janet T. Langsam, CEO of ArtsWestchester, which received funds toward a capital initiative to enhance its gallery and 9th floor spaces to better accommodate performances.

Also included among the funded projects was a major investment toward wide infrastructure improvements at Lyndhurst Mansion, including refurbishment of all mansion windows and restoration of its iconic veranda.

$10,000 for Security System Replacement

Music Conservatory of Westchester
$150,000 for HVAC Replacement

National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States
$962,000 Wide Infrastructure Improvements at Lyndhurst Mansion

Pelham Art Center, Inc.
$200,000 Facility-Wide Improvements
