(NY, NY –Thursday, March 26, 2020) – In celebration of Women’s History Month Julia Breanetta Simpsonpays tribute to the legendary Lena Horne, iconic singer, dancer, actress, political and Civil Rights activist in Classy & Sassy for one performance, 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 26, 2020. The NYC debut will be held at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, located at 61 Christopher Street, NY, NY 10014.

Lena Horne began her career at age 16 in the Cotton Club chorus line, she appeared in such musical films as Stormy Weather and Cabin in the Sky, and lit up the Broadway stage in the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music. Julia Breanetta Simpson’s Classy & Sassy is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

“Classy & Sassy” explores the music that Ms. Horne said was “first my refuge and then my salvation.” “Classy & Sassy” honors and celebrates Ms. Horne’s inspiring life and enduring career. Ms. Simpson is joined by a world class band led by Mario E. Sprouse on piano, Sly Scott (Woodwinds), Tony Lewis (Drums/Percussion) and Hilliard Greene (Bassist).

Julia Breanetta Simpson is an Actress and Singer who has appeared around the country at Regional, Dinner and Stock Theatres in productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’, Dreamgirls, For Colored Girls, One Mo’ Time, Purlie, and Tintypes. Julia has performed her original one-woman shows, concerts and cabarets, in various locations in the Tri-state area, Off-Broadway and other New York City venues including New World Stages, The Triad and The Metropolitan Room.
