Katonah Classic Stage Brings Laughter to Northern Westchester with Two Staged Readings featuring Broadway Veterans

Katonah, NY – Katonah Classic Stage (KCS), Westchester County’s premiere professional theatre company dedicated to classic plays, will give audiences a double dose of Broadway talent this month. On March 14th audiences will be treated to the rapier wit of Mike Bartlett’s play BULL. Two weeks later, on March 27th, KCS will present Christopher Durang’s classic absurdist take on 80’s mental health gurus, BEYOND THERAPY.

Both comedies are fundraisers for the theatre’s Fall season and will be directed by KCS Artistic Director Trent Dawson. The casts will feature Mr. Dawson and fellow Broadway, Film and Television veterans Christian Conn, Jonathan Fielding, Matthew Boston, Samantha Steinmetz, Lea DiMarchi and more. Audiences can also enjoy a dinner before or after the shows next door to the theatre at Amore Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen.

Returning to Whippoorwill Hall in Armonk, KCS will kick-off this reading series with BULL, a wickedly funny, razor-sharp workplace comedy that just happens to turn brutal. Set during a single office meeting, Bull unleashes a rapid-fire battle of wit as three employees spar with jokes, jabs, and perfectly polished corporate language.
Bartlett’s dialogue crackles with comic timing, exposing the absurdity of office culture, team-building buzzwords, and professional politeness, even as the stakes escalate. The laughs come fast, the tension faster, and the comedy becomes the very weapon the characters use to survive.
Dark, daring, and laugh-out-loud sharp, Bull is a thrilling satire that proves just how funny—and frightening—the modern workplace can be when winning is everything.

Christopher Durang, author of such plays as Sister Mary Ignatius explains It All for You (Obie Award for Best Play) and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Tony Award for Best Play), turned his hilarious, neurotic gaze towards the excesses of the mental health world in 1981’s Beyond Therapy. What happens when two Manhattanites, inspired by their respective looney psychiatrists, place personal ads in the paper in hope of finding true love? Only “the explosive comic brilliance of Christopher Durang” (NY Times) could possibly answer that question.
