Organization Overview
The White Plains Public Library is a dynamic, civic resource. Its mission is to enable all members of our community to engage in lifelong learning, find inspiration and build citizenship.
The Foundation was incorporated in 1995 to raise funds to help meet the long-range goals of the White Plains Public Library. From 1997-2001 the Foundation conducted its first fund raising effort, a Centennial Campaign, that raised $1 million to enhance programs and collections, establish an endowment, and seed a capital project to renovate and expand the children's library. In 2004-2005 The Campaign for the Children's Library raised an additional $750,000 and The Trove opened to community acclaim. From new after-school programs to outstanding cultural events, literacy initiatives, convenient online services and dynamic space improvements like the upcoming teen area, every program you support through the Library Foundation makes a powerful impact.
