Artist Statement

Tova graduated from Yale University and then received a Master's of Fine Arts from Temple University, Tyler School of Art.  She did a year's study in Rome, Italy.  Upon graduation, Tova taught art at the American International School in Israel and later was Art Director at the Aaron Copland Music and Art Program in Westchester County, New York.  Her murals can be found in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Italy as well as in the United States.  Tova's work experience includes commercial projects such as murals, restoration, ceiling paintings, trompe d'oeil, and art installations.  She has been exhibiting her paintings of Liguria, Italy, where she has a studio.  She also has a studio at the Arts Exchange in White Plains, New York.  Tova recently completed working on a commission awarded to her by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York/Arts for Transit, for a public art project at the Harrison, NY Metro North Train station.  Her designs for the twelve panels fabricated in faceted glass have been installed in the station house windows and elevator towers.

MFA, Painting, Tyler School of Art.  Studied one year at Temple Abroad, Rome, Italy.  BA, Painting, Yale University.  Accelerated placement in Art History and French Literature.

Teaching Artist Experience

Projects during teaching artist residencies range from guiding elementary, middle and high school students and adults in creating signs for afterschools to creating murals on glass, paper, or the walls of schools and community centers while integrating the school curriculum with the arts and teaching art techniques such as drawing and painting in various mediums.  Residencies sites that Tova has worked with through ArtsWestchester include Rockland Psychiatric Service Center White Plains, Rockland Psychiatric Service Center Mount Vernon, Westhab PEAK Mt. Vernon, William Boyce Thompson School, Lee F. Jackson Elementary School, Grimes Elementary School, Graham Elementary School, Saunders Trades & Technical High School, Thomas Cornell Academy, Padeia P.S. # 15, Edward Williams Elementary School, Church Street Elementary School and Woodlands Middle School.
