“In the sun’s light is the power of the dance,” is a line from a book I read years ago. It has led to a series of images that show an abstracted human figure in motion juxtaposed with a sun. All drawings in this series start out this way. It has become my challenge to show dynamic motion in a static drawing, much like the Futurism movement in the 1920’s and 30’s and to achieve as many different levels of value that I can. My goal is to keep the viewer’s eye constantly moving. I call my photograms (cameraless photography) "Stanograms." They are eidolons, phantoms of unseen life. As a former teacher I have been an Artist-in-Residence at 25+ schools in PA, NY, NJ, and CT.
