Ossining, NY – 2/12/2025 – River’s Edge Theatre Company celebrates Women’s History Month with their upcoming show Women’s Writes: 24-Hour Play Fest, a high-energy theatrical event that brings new plays to life in just 24 hours! This short-lived festival, designed to amplify female voices, will take place at Bethany Arts Community in Ossining, NY, on March 29th for 2 performances only (6pm and 8pm), 10% of ticket sales will go to Hope’s Door.

Women’s Writes: 24-Hour Play Fest challenges playwrights, directors, and actors to write, rehearse, and perform brand-new short plays—all within a single day. The festival champions women’s perspectives and fosters collaboration, spontaneity, and bold storytelling. Audiences will experience original works that showcase local talent and tackle pressing issues that female identifying people encounter in our modern world.

A diverse group of envelope-pushing playwrights have been selected to write for the show. The lineup includes Molly Canu and Serena Noor (Westchester), Abbie Goldberg and Jessica Feder-Birnbaum (NYC), and Lizbette Ocasio-Russe, Ph.D (New Hampshire).

Women’s Writes will be a thrilling creative experiment that amplifies women’s voices and brings our community together through the power of live theatre,” says Meghan Covington, Artistic Director of River’s Edge Theatre Company. “Theatre has a wonderful way forging connections and inspiring change. We hope this fun-filled festival will do just that.”

River’s Edge Theatre Company’s mission is to reflect the human experience, spark, conversation and inspire social change. The company is dedicated to presenting innovative, socially conscious theatre that engages the community. To drive home it’s mission to inspire social change, River’s Edge will be giving 10% of ticket sales to the local non-profit organization Hope’s Door.
