The Story of Plastic, Seething Exposé of an Environmental Scourge

Tuesday, March 8, 7 p.m. at the Bedford Playhouse

Presented in partnership with Bedford 2030, Bedford Playhouse will present a virtual program featuring “The Story of Plastic,” a seething exposé, about the effects of plastic pollution in our global community, that uncovers the ugly truth behind the current global plastic pollution crisis. This will be followed by a panel discussion with New York State Senator Shelley Mayor; Rachana Shah, a Zero Waste Consultant and Representative for Beyond Plastics Mission; and Sheila Morovati, Founder HabitsofWaste.org. Sarah Douglis, Bedford 2030 Board Vice President, will moderate.

The “Story of Plastic” contains striking footage shot over three continents, that illustrates the ongoing catastrophe that is destroying our planet: fields full of garbage, veritable mountains of trash; rivers and seas clogged with waste; and skies choked with the poisonous runoff from plastic production and recycling processes. All this, with no end in sight. Original animations, interviews with experts and activists, and never-before-filmed scenes reveal the disastrous consequences of the flood of plastic smothering ecosystems and poisoning communities around the world – and the global movement rising up in response.
