The Arts at Your Doorstep at the NRPL
The New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) presents an original exhibit, “The Arts at Your Doorstep: Great things happen here” from Monday, March 11th through Saturday, April 6th, in the Lumen Winter Gallery of the New Rochelle Public Library, during library hours.
The exhibit, curated by NRCA Board member Christine Ramage, showcases photographs of NRCA’s recent contributions to the City of New Rochelle’s art scene, including ArtsFest 2023, the NRNY murals and the Summer Sounds Concert Series.
Ramage says “Creativity comes in many forms, and we are surrounded by people doing amazing art right here in New Rochelle. These photographs show just a small slice of all the wonderful things happening around us: We hope the community is inspired to join NRCA at our next event — or even make some art of their own.”
Christine Ramage is a Photo Director, creative producer and manager with 20 years’ experience in visual storytelling and image making; she is currently VP/Head of Photography for Paramount Streaming and Showtime. “The NRCA Board includes working professionals in all the arts, from painters and dancers to musicians and actors,” says President Theresa Kump Leghorn. “Christine brings her expertise as a photo editor for both print and film to the Board, and she has some exciting ideas for future exhibits.”
The New Rochelle Council on the Arts was founded in 1975; its mission is to encourage the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts. For almost 50 years NRCA has worked to fulfill that mission by sponsoring art exhibits, public art, theatrical productions, dance recitals, film screenings, lectures, and concert series, contributing to a richer and more vibrant arts community in New Rochelle and lower Westchester.
Among NRCA’s signature projects are the 20 #NRNY Murals, a collaboration with New Rochelle IDA and Street Art for Mankind; the NRCA Rotunda Gallery at City Hall, providing much-needed exhibition space for artists with three to four exhibits a year since 2012; the Summer Sounds Concert Series, bringing free weekly concerts to Hudson Park each summer since 2008; and ArtsFest, a weekend-long celebration of the arts in New Rochelle and Pelham every fall.
