The Ground Glass 49th Annual Juried Exhibit opens at The Rye Arts Center on Thursday, April 3.
Showcasing the finest in contemporary photography, the show includes 35 images selected by Juror Brian Paul Clamp, an internationally recognized authority on American art and photography. The Ground Glass exhibition promises dramatic landscapes, compelling still lifes, dynamic street photography, and abstract imagery. The photographs mirror the varied experiences, styles and skills of Ground Glass members.
The juror is owner of the renowned Clamp Gallery in Manhattan, specializing in the exhibition and sale of fine art photography. Mr. Clamp has over thirty years of experience in the field and holds a Master of Arts degree in Critical Studies in Modern Art from Columbia University. He is the author of over forty articles and publications on American art. After making his selections, the juror addressed the Ground Glass with a congratulatory statement acknowledging the excellence of the exhibiting members work:
“From documentary work to abstracted landscape imagery and experimentally printed photographs on gold leaf, the range of practices represented among The Ground Glass members is a delight. I appreciate the opportunity to jury the 49th annual show, and am impressed by the association’s resilience and longevity, particularly in light of the significant technological advancements over that period of time. Witnessing each artist’s commitment to their own craft and experimentation is the value of such an exhibition. Congratulations on the extraordinary photographs!”

An opening reception with the photographers will be held

About The Ground Glass
The Ground Glass: Founded in 1975 by Renata Rainer, The Ground Glass is an independent photographic association, dedicated to promoting the practice and appreciation of fine art photography. Bringing together photographers from Westchester County, New York, and Fairfield County, Connecticut, the organization has fostered a vibrant community of artists dedicated to both the craft and the creative exploration of photography. The Ground Glass is in residence at The Rye Arts Center and provides a forum for education, collaboration, and inspiration through monthly meetings, exhibitions, guest lectures, and image reviews. From traditional darkroom practices to cutting-edge digital techniques, The Ground Glass embraces the evolving nature of the medium. Member critiques encourage participants to experiment with diverse applications of photographic expression, while curated exhibitions emphasize the importance of presenting images as fine art prints. Members of The Ground Glass explore and discuss all aspects of photography. Monthly meetings often feature guest speakers, including well-known photographers and educators such as Sam Abell, Cole Thompson, Phil Penman, Joanne Dugan, Jill Skupin-Burkholder, Eddie Soloway, Tomasz Tomaszewski, Trisha Rosenkilde, Chuck Kelton, Sandra Carrion and Bill Travis. In addition to The Rye Arts Center, The Ground Glass is a member of ArtsWestchester, the Hudson Valley Photography Network and the New York Metro Area Camera Council.
