One Night Only! 4K Restoration Film + Q&A with George Stevens Jr.

Bedford, NY – Bedford Playhouse is proud to present George Stevens: A Filmmaker’s Journey—a special film screening and conversation with George Stevens, Jr. and former New York Times film critic Janet Maslin—on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 6:00 PM.

This event is a rare opportunity to experience the story of a Hollywood legend—told by the son who helped preserve and elevate his legacy for future generations.

The evening features a stunning new 4K restoration of Stevens, Jr.’s acclaimed documentary chronicling the life and work of his father, legendary filmmaker George Stevens. A master of both comedy and drama, Stevens directed Hollywood classics including Swing Time, Gunga Din, Woman of the Year, A Place in the Sun, Shane, Giant, and The Diary of Anne Frank. He won two Academy Awards and is widely regarded as one of the greatest directors of his generation.

Following the screening, George Stevens, Jr. will sit down with Janet Maslin for an in-depth conversation about his father’s legacy and the making of this personal documentary. Stevens, Jr. is an award-winning director, writer, and producer, and the founder of the American Film Institute and the Kennedy Center Honors. His accolades include fourteen Emmys, two Peabody Awards, eight Writers Guild Awards, an Honorary Oscar, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Copies of his memoir, My Place in the Sun, Life in the Golden Age of Hollywood and Washington, will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
