SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY – Friends of Music Concerts, which is celebrating its 70th season in 2023-24, presents Michelle Cann, described as “a compelling, sparkling virtuoso” by Boston Music Intelligencer, on Sunday, April 14, 3 p.m. at Sleepy Hollow High School, 210 N. Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. Note that this is a change from the previously-announced date.

Cann’s program includes Chopin’s Ballade No. 3 in A-flat major, Op. 47, sequeing into the dramatic “My Dungeon Shook” by African-American composer Joel Thompson, followed by the virtuosic, fast-moving Sonata No. 1 by Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera.

Cann will open the second half with Ballade for Piano by American composer Nathan Gulla, which was inspired by the Chopin ballade, followed by the soulful “A Deserted Plantation” by African-American composer William Grant Still and concluding with Mephisto Waltz No. 1, S. 514 by Liszt.
