Bedford Playhouse Announces Founder John Farr’s Return to the Board of Directors

Bedford, NY — Oct 6th, 2025 — Bedford Playhouse is proud to announce that John Farr, the original founder who led the theater’s landmark revival, has rejoined its Board of Directors. Farr’s return marks a meaningful moment for the Playhouse, bringing back the visionary who first transformed the historic local theater into a vibrant cultural destination.

When the Playhouse faced closure in 2015, Farr spearheaded the ambitious effort to restore and reimagine it for a new era. Under his leadership, the project raised the necessary capital, attracted support from industry luminaries like Clive Davis, and launched a comprehensive renovation. The result was the creation of Bedford Playhouse / Clive Davis Arts Center, featuring state-of-the-art theaters, advanced sound and projection, and expanded programming that now includes film, concerts, author talks, comedy, educational, and cultural events.

“I never stopped believing in the promise of Bedford Playhouse or its ability to bring people together through the arts,” said Farr. “It’s an honor to rejoin the Board and help guide its next chapter.”

As part of his renewed role, Farr will also be involved in shaping unique and cultural programming. Among upcoming highlights is a free public screening of HBO’s acclaimed new documentary The Alabama Solution, followed by a conversation with Emmy-winning director Andrew Jarecki, moderated by Farr himself.

“We’re so thrilled to have John back on the Playhouse Board,” said Donald Greenwald, Board Chair. John’s return signals a new era of growth for Bedford Playhouse while reaffirming its mission to provide world-class cultural experiences for the community.”
