Westchester News in Brief
Westchester Artist Displayed in Flatiron Building
An installation by Westchester artist Sarah Haviland is on display in the Sprint Flatiron Prow Art Space of Manhattan’s historic Flatiron Building. Rise Above is an illuminated window installation that consists of five winged female figures made of steel and galvanized wire mesh and suspended from the ceiling. The human-bird personae are inspired by myths from many world sculptures, exploring dualities of strength and subtlety, movement and stability and earth and sky. Her sculptures have been exhibited internationally and her public sculptures have been displayed in six states. Cheryl McGinnis Projects curates projects in the iconic space, creating a beacon of art for the neighborhood. For info, visit: sarahhaviland.com and cherylmcginnisgallery.com.

The work will reflect the diverse cultural backgrounds represented in the New Rochelle community, give new opportunities to local artists and also enrich the lives of patients, caregivers and faculty who visit the Center every day. The inaugural exhibition, Creative Visions, on view through April 18, features visual art and collaborative works by poets. The gallery is located in the Administrative Corridor on the first floor and is open Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm.
Solo Show in Cold Spring For Westchester Artist
Now through April 2, Westchester artist Bernie Mindich will be featured in a solo photography exhibition in the Buster Levi Gallery in Cold Spring, NY. On Reflection presents images from an exploration of “reflections” on both a physical and metaphorical level. Dealing primarily with reflective surfaces that accentuate density, layering and complexity, coupled with his singular choice of subject matter, this artist’s work is implicitly mysterious with a generally dreamlike and surrealistic quality.
