Metropolis Sunrise Sponsor and Volunteer List

An ArtsWestchester Public Art Project Sewn by Hundreds of Hands

Artist Amanda Browder’s installations have brought communities together at every level of their making. Fabric donated to ArtsWestchester’s public art project by local residents and constructed and sewn by individuals, families, and community groups from the area are making this project to come to life. The resulting work is a celebration of locality, community, and sustainability.

“Everybody that comes to the project is part of the piece as well,” Browder says. “They all bring their family members, so it’s not just the ‘Amanda Browder Show,’ and my work. It’s our show.” Every person who has a hand in realizing the work – whether it’s by donating fabric or dollars, or by volunteering their time at a sewing day — joins Browder on the roster of exhibiting artists. Hundreds of volunteers have contributed to this massive public art project at sewing days held across the county in places like – – Rye, Hawthorne, Greenburgh, Sleepy Hollow, Scarsdale, Pelham, and White Plains. And for this we say thank you!
