Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival Announces 2023 Season
Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) in Garrison recently announced its upcoming summer season. With its roots firmly planted in the Hudson Valley, HVSF aims to engage the widest possible audience that speak to the current world through the timeless works of William Shakespeare. In addition to a touring production of Romeo & Juliet through April 28, two plays will take the stage between June and September:
One of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies, Love’s Labor’s Lost, follows four young men, including the king, who take a vow to avoid romantic temptations, but fall in love regardless. The play is directed by Amanda Dehnert with original music by Dehnert and Andre Pleuss.
Henry V, Shakespeare’s historic play about King Henry V of England centers on the happenings surrounding the Battle of Agincourt. The summer production is directed by Davis McCallum.
In September, HVSF will debut the world premiere of PENELOPE, “a musical love letter to all those who wait: for someone they love; for something they believe in,” directed by Eva Steinmetz with music and lyrics by Alex Bechel.
