Rejoice and Sing! Choral Masterworks for the Season
The Taghkanic Chorale presents seasonal masterworks, performed on period instruments with distinguished soloists directed by Maestro Jason C Tramm
The program features the youthful brilliance and contrapuntal vitality of Handel’s Dixit Dominus, alongside three motets by Michael Praetorius, Johannes Brahms, and Felix Mendelssohn, each offering unique perspectives on the sacred choral tradition across centuries.
The concert concludes with the luminous Herr, Wenn die stolzen Feide schnauben from J.S. Bach’s Christman Oratorio (BWV 248), a work of festive grandeur that epitomizes the richness of Lutheran baroque music.
This performance offers a rare opportunity to experience these cornerstones of the choral canon in historically informed style, illuminating their expressive power and enduring resonance.
Please join the Taghkanic Chorale for two performances, one on Saturday December 13th at 8 pm and the other Sunday December 14th at 4 pm at St. Columbanus Church, 122 Oregon Rd, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567
