Join Artistic Director David Štech and members of the Westchester Oratorio Society on Saturday, October 19 as the group holds its popular fall fundraiser, “An Afternoon of Music.”  This year the soirée will feature an intimate recital by the celebrated Italian pianist Sandro Russo, as the event returns to the beautiful surroundings of the Fellowship Hall of Saint Matthew’s Church, 382 Cantitoe Street, Bedford, NY  at 12:00 pm.

In demand as a soloist in many venues around the world, Russo unanimously receives accolades for his sparkling virtuosity.  His playing has often been referred to as a throwback to the grand tradition of elegant pianism and beautiful sound.  A “pianist’s pianist” (Lowell Liebermann), Stephen Hough has called Russo, “one of the most talented young pianists I have heard…”  and Garrick Ohlsson has praised him as “… an excellent pianist with a good sound, technique and range of styles.”

The afternoon will also feature a light lunch and dessert served by members of the group. Tickets are $35pp ($15 deductible) and can be purchased in advance through the group’s website www.westchesteroratorio.org. For more information email [email protected].

About Westchester Oratorio Society

Founded in 1997 and currently under the direction of David Štech, the Westchester Oratorio Society is dedicated to bringing high level musical performances of choral masterworks, early music and modern compositions to local audiences in northern Westchester, while at the same time giving its volunteer singers, students and others the unique opportunity of preparing for and participating in such events. In doing so, WOS provides a community and educational experience for amateur singers of all levels while bringing exceptional performances with professional orchestras and soloists to local audiences.
