Outdoor movies have become a rite of passage for summer months. Throughout Westchester, family-friendly movies like Elemental<\/em> to Trolls Band Together<\/em> are being screened all season long and into September. ArtsNews<\/em> will continue to present selections of upcoming free and affordable outdoor arts events in Westchester, including music in the air, theater in the park and more.<\/p>\n\n\n

July 11: <\/strong>Concert and Movie: Ricky Blues Band<\/strong><\/a> & Trolls Band Together<\/em><\/u><\/strong>
<\/a>Presented by The Town of Cortlandt<\/strong>
In the pop-musical movie Trolls Band Together<\/em>, Poppy and Branch set out to reunite Branch with his brothers, who were once part of a boy band, in order to rescue their other brother who was kidnapped. The screening follows a performance by Ricky Blues Band, who will perform a blend of classic blues, rock and soul. At 7pm at the Cortlandt Waterfront Park.

Elemental<\/em><\/strong><\/a>
Presented by Peekskill Parks & Recreation<\/strong>
In the colorful Disney Pixar animated film Elemental<\/em>, fire, water, land and air residents live together in Element City. At Riverfront Green Park at 8:30pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

July\u00a012: <\/strong>Under the Boardwalk<\/em><\/strong><\/a>
Presented by Village of Mamaroneck Parks and Recreation<\/strong>
When a storm sweeps two Jersey Shore crabs away, they set on an adventure to find their way back home in the musical comedy Under the Boardwalk<\/em>. The screening takes place the same night as the Village\u2019s Tiki Invasion. Movie begins at dusk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 13: <\/strong>Elemental<\/em><\/strong><\/a>
Presented by Westchester County Parks and Sharc Creative<\/strong>
The White Plains Hospital Screenings Under the Stars series kicks off with Pixar\u2019s Elemental<\/em>. Before the movie, kids can experience The Bubble Bus and try their hand at a ninja warrior inspired obstacle course. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or folding chairs. At sundown at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 17:\u00a0<\/strong>Lyle, Lyle Crocodile<\/em><\/strong><\/a>
Presented by the Village of Croton-on-Hudson<\/strong>
When the Primms move to New York City, their young son finds a friendly crocodile in the attic who can only communicate through song. The film begins at dusk in Senasqua Park, where picnicking is encouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 25: <\/strong>Concert and a Movie: The Mike Risko Band<\/strong><\/a> & Migration<\/em><\/u><\/strong>
Presented by The Town of Cortlandt<\/strong>
Guests at Cortlandt Waterfront Park can view a screening of the animated film Migration<\/em>. When the movie\u2019s protagonists, a family of ducks, leave their New England pond for Jamaica, they find themselves lost in New York City. Prior to the screening, the Mike Risko Band will perform high-energy blending of rock, pop, and soul music. At 7pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 25: <\/strong>Movie Night At Ridge Hill: Toy Story<\/em><\/strong><\/a>
Presented by Ridge Hill<\/strong>
Toy Story<\/em> When human boy Andy isn\u2019t looking, his toys come to life. His favorite toy is Woody the cowboy, but when Andy gets space ranger action figure Buzz Lightyear for his birthday, Woody feels threatened. as they navigate their rivalry and friendship. Classic films will be shown on the jumbo screen on the last Thursdays of the month through September. Starting at sunset on the South Lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Space ranger Buzz Lightyear and his companions work together to escape the evil Zurg and his army of robots. Films begin at dusk. Picnicking is encouraged. The film begins at dusk in Senasqua Park, where picnicking is encouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

August 1: <\/strong>Concert and Movie: Billy 6 & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem<\/em><\/strong><\/a>
Presented by The Town of Cortlandt<\/strong>
A movie screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem<\/em> will follow the music of Billy 6, a rock band that performs a blend of classic rock and modern alternative sounds. The movie follows four ninja turtles who live like humans until a gang of criminals steal their friend April\u2019s moped and it\u2019s up to them to save the day. This night of music and movies takes place with a backdrop of the Hudson River. 7pm at the Cortlandt Waterfront Park.<\/p>\n\n\n

August 23: <\/strong>The Princess and the Frog<\/em><\/strong><\/a>
Presented by Greenburgh Nature Center<\/strong>
Hosted on the nature center\u2019s Great Lawn, this family movie night encourages guests to bring a blanket or chairs to view movies under the stars. On August 23, the center will feature a screening of The Princess and the Frog<\/em>, Disney\u2019s retelling of a German folktale. Hardworking Tiana\u2019s dreams are derailed when a prince-turned-frog mistakes her for a princess.<\/p>\n\n\n

The title protagonist in Shrek<\/em> is an ogre who embarks on a quest to rescue a princess with the help of a talkative donkey, challenging fairy tale conventions along the way. September 6: <\/strong>The Fabelmans<\/em><\/strong><\/a>

This PG-13 film takes place in the 1950s, when young Sammy becomes enthralled in movies and begins making his own films at home. The Stephen Spielberg-directed movie is semi-autobiographical. Guests can bring a blanket or folding chairs to watch the screening at 8:30pm on Riverfront Green Park.<\/p>\n\n\n

In How to Train Your Dragon<\/em>, a norse teenager named Hiccup befriends a\u00a0dragon\u00a0named Toothless despite his father being chief of a clan that fights dragons. The screening is hosted on the nature center\u2019s Great Lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

September 13:\u00a0<\/strong>Hotel Transylvania<\/em><\/strong><\/a>

In this animated film, Hotel Transylvania is a resort for monsters where they can be themselves without the interference of humans, until a human invades their space and falls in love with Dracula\u2019s daughter Mavis. Films begin at dusk in Senasqua Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
