Established in 1953 by Grace Huntley Pugh Mamaroneck Artists Guild has held a proud place in the history of women’s art in Westchester County. In recognition of Women’s History Month MAG will host a panel discussion of 5 women artists who represent a broad range of work, from personal vision to large -scale public commissions. All of these artists consider advocacy for the arts in their communities as an essential part of their work.

 

Judith Weber: mosaic artist, product designer, president of the board of the Clay Art Center in Portchester

 

Tova Snyder is a muralist who has produced large-scale murals on buildings in the Bronx, and public commissions for Portchester as well as for the MTA Arts for Transit Program.

 

Hilda Green Demsky, a painter who is a Fulbright Fellow, National Endowment for the Arts Fellow and a recipient of the Andy Warhol Residency Award. She is a member of the Mamaroneck Artists Guild.

 

Catherine Latson is an innovative sculptor who constructs imaginative objects with organic materials. Many of her works explore nature and femininity. She has exhibited her work at the Hudson River Museum, the Rockland Center for the Arts and has been featured at the Transform Gallery in NYC.

 

Vinnie Bagwell: is a sculptor who has produced numerous large -scale bronze sculptures celebrating African American, Hispanic and Native American history. She is currently producing a series of large scale bronze sculptures for the Enslaved Africans rain garden on the Yonkers Waterfront.

 

Panel moderators: Sarah Coble, is a sculptor and educator, who maintains a studio in YOHO, member of MAG.
