UPAC Free Art Classes

Come and join us! Discover your child’s hidden talent to the UNTERMYER performing arts Council‘s creative hands program! Each and everyone of us has a creative flair that just needs to be tapped, and we can help your child find theirs.

Taught by well-known artist Zafiro Acevedo, our six session art course starts Saturday, June 6 via zoom. In our course, students will learn the basic mixtures of paint and use the genres of steel life, landscape, and their own imaginations, to explore the mediums of pencils, temper paint, watercolor, and pastels.

Parents interested in their children taking this course should email Mrs. Acevedo at zafiroyonkersartist@gmail.com by Friday, June 5th.

This program is free to Yonkers and Westchester residents between the ages of 6+ to 16. Creative hands is supported by an ArtsWestchester Community Grant and is done in cooperation with Mayer and Mike Spano and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation.

For registration or more information, email Mrs. Acevedo at zafiroyonkersartist@gmail.com.

P.O. Box 49 Yonkers, NY 10702 (914) 375-3435

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council (UPAC) was formed in 1976 to promote the appreciation of the performing arts in Yonkers and beyond. UPAC’s mission was to foster and sponsor performing arts events at the historic Untermyer Park and other venues in Yonkers. UPAC is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that relies on public grants and private donations. To ensure accessibility and welcome the broadest public audience, all UPAC events are free and open to everyone.

In keeping with UPAC’s “WorldFest 2014” theme, this summer’s series includes performances representing nations and regions from around the world including Italy, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Korea…to name a few. See the full schedule online at www.untermyer.org.

In addition to its popular free summer performance series at Untermyer Park, a new program entitled “UPAC on the Road” was recently launched, with support from Arts Westchester to reach new communities and partner with a variety of neighborhoods, businesses and community organizations.

Now celebrating its 39th year, UPAC continues to grow and seek new ways to serve the residents of Yonkers and the surrounding region. The motto of the Untermyer Performing Arts Council can be summed up with three “E’s”…enlighten, educate and entertain.
