Untermyer Performing Arts Council’s World Fest 2017
“Music From Eastern Europe
Featuring the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra
7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29th 2017 at Historic Untermyer Park
The Untermyer Performing Arts Council is presenting “Music from Eastern Europe,” featuring the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra. This is the sixth program of World Fest 2017, our forty-second Summer Season, on Saturday, July 29th at 7:30 p.m. at Untermyer Park.
“Music from Eastern Europe” will fill Untermyer Park with the music of classic international music—with a touch of Americana thrown in– performed by the Yonkers Philharmonic, a diverse group of renowned musicians from throughout the New York Metropolitan area led by Conductor Tong Chen.
Mentored by former Director of the New York Philharmonic Kurt Masur, Ms. Chen conducts for the Paul Taylor Dance Company and is an Adjunct Professor at the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City.
The Yonkers Philharmonic has continued to bring the experience of live symphonic music to the people of Yonkers since it was founded in 1962 by Dr. Kathleen Pistone Carucci and her late husband, Pasquale Pistone, with the support of the Fine Arts Orchestral Society, founded by his wife the same year.
This definitely is another “don’t miss” Untermyer Performing Arts Council World Fest 2017 evening under the stars!
The Untermyer Performing Arts Council is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to continuing the tradition of Minnie and Samuel Untermyer, bringing musical entertainment to our treasure of a park and the people of Yonkers.
