The Untermyer Performing Arts Council is delighted to welcome Toronto’s Premier Ukrainian Dance Company Desna back to Yonkers! They will perform at 7:30 pm, Saturday, August 17th at Untermyer Park, 945 North Broadway in Yonkers.
The Company has dazzled audiences throughout Canada, the US and beyond with their wide repertoire of Ukrainian dance. They present technically demanding and exhilarating dances, accented by exquisite costumes and diverse music, and are a true celebration of movement and dance.
This celebration of international music will be another “don’t miss” Untermyer Performing Arts Council program under the stars!
The Untermyer Performing Arts Council presents free performances and events for its 44th season of World Fest 2019 series every Saturday evening through September 7 on the Great Lawn at Untermyer Park. The Untermyer Performing Arts Council itself is an all-volunteer group that brings diverse, professional programs to the people of Yonkers, Westchester and beyond.
This program, done in cooperation with Mayor Mike Spano and the Yonkers Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, was made possible by ArtsWestchester with support from the Westchester County Government and the City of Yonkers. The Empire City Casino, Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins, Senator Shelley Mayer and our many generous supporters provided additional support for this program.

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council (UPAC) was formed in 1976 to promote the appreciation of the performing arts in Yonkers and beyond. UPAC’s mission was to foster and sponsor performing arts events at the historic Untermyer Park and other venues in Yonkers. UPAC is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that relies on public grants and private donations. To ensure accessibility and welcome the broadest public audience, all UPAC events are free and open to everyone.

In addition to its popular free summer performance series at Untermyer Park, a new program entitled “UPAC on the Road” was recently launched, with support from Arts Westchester to reach new communities and partner with a variety of neighborhoods, businesses and community organizations.
Now celebrating its 39th year, UPAC continues to grow and seek new ways to serve the residents of Yonkers and the surrounding region. The motto of the Untermyer Performing Arts Council can be summed up with three “E’s”…enlighten, educate and entertain.
