Untermyer Performing Arts Council Announces World Fest 2018

Untermyer Performing Arts Council Announces World Fest 2018

7:30 p.m. at Historic Untermyer Park

June 23rd through September 1st

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council is proud to announce World Fest 2018, our forty-third season of presenting free quality entertainment to the people of Yonkers and Westchester.

We began our 43rd season with outstanding program, Brian Conway and Friends, with dancers from the Flynn School of Irish Dance at our annual Irish concert, and Jazz in the Park was exceptional. We continue providing free entertainment this summer with World Fest 2018, presenting top notch, professional presentations every Saturday evening under the stars at our beautiful Untermyer Park. On tap this coming summer are programs as diverse as the New York Chinese Cultural Center’s Dance & Music Across China, Swingadelic, the Yonkers Philharmonic, the Connecticut Ballet, Baryna, Kotchegna Music & Dance from the Ivory Coast and Silvana Magda with the Katende Band and the Viva Brazil Dancers!

Our premier program on June 23rd will be Island Breeze. Island Breeze, a Caribbean and steel drum group, will create the relaxing atmosphere of the Caribbean, combining the beautiful sounds of steel drums with bass, drums, percussion, guitar and vocals. They will entertain us with many of the well known Calypso and Reggae hits from the islands, by artists such as Harry Belafonte, Bob Marley, and Jimmy Cliff, providing an amazing start to summer at Untermyer Park!

Each and every program this season definitely is a “don’t miss” Untermyer Performing Arts Council World Fest 2018 evening under the stars!

Founded in 1976, the Untermyer Performing Arts Council is a 501.c.3 non-profit organization created in Yonkers for Yonkers people, operated by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. We have a passionate commitment to the arts and service to the people of Yonkers. Dedicated to continuing the tradition of Minnie and Samuel Untermyer by bringing musical entertainment to our treasure of a park and the people of Yonkers, we take pride in executing our mission of community service through developing and promoting an appreciation in the performing arts, providing a summer series of varied, quality artistic performance, and year-round special events for adults and children at beautiful Untermyer Park and elsewhere.

Our events are admission free and open to the public. Please bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets, as seating is not provided.

In case of rain, call the Untermyer Performing Arts Council’s ArtsLine, 914-375-3435, after 2 p.m. the day of the performance for confirmation of the program’s location. This year our rain site will be the Saunders High School, 183 Palmer Road, Yonkers.

This program, done in cooperation with Mayor Mike Spano and the Yonkers Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, is made possible by ArtsWestchester with support from Westchester County Government and the City of Yonkers. The Empire City Casino, Senator Shelley Mayer and our many generous supporters provide additional support for our programs.
