THE OCTOBER STORM and Young Playwrights Festival

HUDSON STAGE announces its spring mainstage production April 24-May 9th.

The world premiere of the riveting and provocative new play by Joshua Allen, THE OCTOBER STORM. Directed by Cezar Williams. Denise Bessette and Olivia Sklar, Executive Producers. In 1960’s Southside Chicago, a troubled war veteran moves into an apartment building and the residents become caught in an emotional whirlwind that threatens to change their lives forever. Caught in the center of the conflict are and the building’s landlady, Mrs. Elkins and her 16-year-old granddaughter, Gloria.

From the writer of last season’s staged reading, THE LAST PAIR OF EARLIES: Joshua Allen, a native of Chicago, was a co-executive producer on the Emmy-winning Fox TV series Empire and is developing new programming under a deal with 20th Century Fox Television. His other plays include Boy in a Blue Tweed Suit, and Chrysalis. His work has been developed at the Cape Cod Theater Project, Primary Stages, the Lark Play Development Center, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He is also an alum of New Dramatists, and the Ars Nova Play Group.  Joshua is a graduate of the USC and The Juilliard School.

Cezar Williams is a Yonkers resident and an award winning director, whose recent Off-Broadway production of DANCING ON EGGSHELLS won critical acclaim. He has worked at Williamstown Theater Festival, 59e59th Street Theatre, La Mama, the Cherry Lane and was the recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship.
