Summer Sounds Concert Series Auditioning Music Groups

Music groups looking for a chance to play at New Rochelle’s charming and historic Hudson Park Band Shell are invited to apply for this year’s Summer Sounds Concert Series, produced by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts. NRCA’s Summer Sounds Concert committee will be auditioning bands throughout January and February before making the final selection in March.

The Summer Sounds Concerts are free to the public and are performed every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at beautiful Hudson Park, located on Long Island Sound. The concerts are known for drawing hundreds of people to enjoy an eclectic menu of musicians performing everything from mellow jazz to opera to salsa, Motown, bluegrass -– every genre of music is welcome. The Summer Sounds concert series is presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, in partnership with the New Rochelle Dept. of Parks and Recreation. This year’s concert series will run from July 6th to August 31, 2022.

NRCA pays the artists and provides a state-of-the-art sound system as well as sound techs and lighting; in addition NRCA schedules local food trucks to be on site each week.

The Summer Sounds Concert Series committee will determine the lineup by the end of April, and all bands will be notified whether they have been selected or not. The process is highly competitive: In 2020 there were 54 bands that applied for a dozen performance spots.
