Sarah Lawrence Launches “Code Community” Course Teaching High School Students to Build Assistive Technology Devices for Disabled

March 27, 2018, Yonkers, NY – Whether its filmmaking, creative writing, social justice or building assistive technology devices for children with disabilities that is of interest, Sarah Lawrence College is offering a wide range of summer programs that will allow high school students to explore their interests and prepare for college.

Students can live on campus for most courses, offering them a taste of the college experience, or commute to classes, offering flexibility.

“At Sarah Lawrence we offer immersive experiences that can be life-changing,’’ said Kody Trauger, director of professional and summer programs. “This year we have added an exciting new computer programming course in which students collaborate with children and therapists from a local pediatric center to develop prototypes of assistive technology devices. This is just one example of the unique residential and non-residential summer programs we offer.”

Summer programs are open to rising 10th, 11th, or 12th graders. Residential students must be age 15 or older at the start of the program. To learn about costs, schedules and housing options visit our website.
