Vesselina Traptcheva was born in 1973 in Varna, Bulgaria and attended the Bulgarian National High School for Fine Arts and National Academy for Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, majoring in Printmaking. She received a BFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1998 and an MFA in Painting from Parsons School of Design in 2000. Her work was highlighted in New American Paintings MFA Edition in 2000. She was awarded fellowships to attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2002, and Yaddo in 2003. She has received numerous awards, including the Silvermine Guild Jean and Don Rorke Art of the Northeast Award and 1st Prize for Printmaking International Youth Competition, Venice, Italy Her work has appeared in various solo and group shows in the United States and Europe. She lives in Westchester, New York.
