Artist Statement

Tricia Wright's paintings are committed to color and visual perception. Her process contains elements of chance (she pours the paint, choreographing the flow and direction by manipulating the canvas) and of extreme precision. In their formal experimentation her paintings embody the paradox between impulse and control, intention and chance, mirroring the paradoxical nature of modern life.
