Artist Statement

Shayok Mukhopadhyay grew up in India and studied at the International Center of Photography, New York. His work ranges from video to large format portraiture and hand-made books. His major solo shows were "Québec", at Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art in Toronto in January 2013, and "People of Port Chester" at the Village Laundromat in Port Chester, New York, December 2013-January 2014. "People of Port Chester" was supported by a New York State Council on the Arts grant. He is currently working on a feature length documentary about two gay actors in a traveling theater in rural India.
