Artist Statement

“I have always believed that the power of an image can change the way we see the world.”  Since 1977, Richard Falco has worked as a photographer in New York and has traveled extensively throughout the world, working on assignments in Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States.  His photographs have appeared in major publications throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including Time, Newsweek, Life, New York Times, Geo, US News & World Report.  Falco is the author of two books, To Bear Witness/September 11 and Medics: A Documentation of Paramedics in the Harlem Community.  Falco is also President and Creative Director of the Vision Project, an organization dedicated to the development of investigative journalism, research, documentary photography, multimedia and education.  Vision Project podcasts include multimedia productions of interviews with renowned photographers, filmmakers and journalists, and introduce the work of some of the most interesting and innovative individuals working in the field today.  Its goal is to create informative and insightful presentations that are educational, thought-provoking, and encourage understanding and awareness.
