Artist Statement

I have a rich and varied professional background in fine art, business and education. I currently own my own photography business that specializes in corporate, editorial and special event photography.

My  fine art photography is traditional in the sense that my pictures make individual statements. I am  thoroughly contemporary in my use of Adobe Photoshop® to create the effects I want.

The software allows me to add that extra edge –an expanded realization of an idea in order to round out my artistic vision. The subject matter of my images rely on humor, and have references to language, art history and the American culture. Over the last twenty years my work has been featured in 8 solo and 30 group exhibits across the US and Canada, including the Katonah Museum, and the 2002 Westchester Biennial Show at the College of New Rochelle. In 2002 she was awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) –artist grant for photography.

Educational Background

I discovered my passion for photography as an undergraduate student, at CUNY Queens College where I studied with Marcia Resnick. I deepened my knowledge and practice at the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY founded by renowned visual arts educator, Nathan Lyons where I earned my MFA.
