Artist Statement
I have been creating collages from photographs and any other kind of material that you can draw on for decades. I then make limited edition photographs o/digital pigment prints. Early works are abstracted land, sea or sky with phenomena such as lightning or storms distilled into patterns. Newer works are more surreal and deal with drawing on concepts and themes from medieval art and contemporary life. The foundations of these works are sketches from sketchbooks made with pastels, paint and crayons that were scanned into the computer. Images that I have collected for years: old family photographs, photographs I have taken, images from old books, and copyright free material are collaged into layers on that abstract background and are transformed by digital software and printed on to fine papers or canvas.
