Artist Statement

Linda Winters grew up in in Santa Barbara, California, and received her BA from the University of California, San Diego. She later worked for pioneering computer artist Harold Cohen as his colorist and on numerous installations in the US and Canada. Linda moved from San Diego to Manhattan's East Village in 1987 and now lives and works in Peekskill, New York where she is active in a growing artistic community. Lately, her paintings spring from color palates made while practicing the magical color exercises found in Joseph Albers's book "Interaction of Color”. This has been exceptionally fertile territory on an endless path to explore and express color in two dimensions.
