The art of bookbinding is a beautiful ancient craft that has allowed cultures to share knowledge and ideas for centuries. It is empowering to create a book by hand, especially when using traditional methods.
Over the past 18 years, I have brought this art form to children and teachers alike by adapting classic bookbinding styles to suit all ages and abilities. I also work alongside teachers to incorporate bookbinding into school curriculums and have designed several new binding styles of my own.
Karin Reetz spent her childhood in Africa and studied architecture at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. In 1995, she was introduced to bookbinding at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY. Since then she has studied with a number of elite book artists at The Center For Book Arts in New York City.
