Artist Statement

My current work is a visual study of the question “Is life inherent in matter?”  Actually, I’ve been wondering about this since I was a child.  Where did life come from and where is it going?  I used to think about this as I dug holes in the ground looking for plants and creatures.  And then I began to think about it more as I studied biology, and now as I read about genetic research. I am a member of the Ceres Gallery in Chelsea and my last exhibit there was called “Spontaneous Generation”.  I will be having my next show there in April of 2013 and it will be a continuation of the same theme. I build relief panels with wood and have various things going on in holes protruding from the back, sometimes with LED lights in them.
