Janet Grice, bassoonist, has performed internationally with Karl Berger, Butch Morris, the STX Ensemble, the Mingus Orchestra and her groups. She recorded for Music Minus One and produced 4 CDs of Brazilian jazz and chamber music, and recorded contemporary music by Xenakis, Eve Beglarian, and the Festival of Microtonal Music, among others. She received a Fulbright Fellowship in Brazil and grants from the National Endowment, Arts International, and a 2008 Westchester Arts Council award for her original composition. Academic degrees include a DMA from Rutgers University, MM from New York University and BM from the New England Conservatory. She is a music teacher and facilitator for the NYC Dept. of Education, and a teaching artist for the Lincoln Center Institute, Carnegie Hall and the Westchester Philharmonic. Currently professor of bassoon at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School, she also taught ear-training and music history at Rutgers University and St. Josephâ??s College of NY. She plays with Vento Trio, various jazz ensembles, and the Chappaqua Orchestra.
