Artist Statement

I taught junior high and high school in Brooklyn, NY (licensed by NYS).  When I moved to Westchester, I volunteered to teach various projects in the Scarsdale school system and taught Origami in after school programs.  I studied at the New York Botanical Gardens, received a certificate in Botanical Illustration, and am in the process of obtaining a certificate in Scientific Illustration.  I exhibit my work locally and nationally.  My paintings are in private collections and currently at Yale's Peabody Museum; my work has been exhibited at the Buffalo Museum of Science, The New York State Museum, The Virginia Maritime Museum, the Arizona Sonora Museum, The New York Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The New York Horticultural Society, Garvies Point Museum, Greenwich Library, the Larchmont Historical Society, the Harrison Library, and many other venues across the country.  I have won numerous prizes in Scarsdale and Greenwich, was a 1st prize winner in Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation and have been published in botanical catalogs including the New York Botanical Gardens catalog.  I continue taking classes with master painters, illustrators, and educators to improve my skills as an artist and teacher.  I am a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrator, The American Society of Botanical Artists, The Scarsdale Art Association and the Greenwich Art Society.
