Artist Statement

I have been making art since my collage days at NYU where I studied business. After collage I started a natural foods distribution business & eventually created & founded the Sir Real Juice Company which I still own & run today.   My early drawings evolved into a study of collage where I first used old photos, extra stickers & junk mail from my business & eventually the colorful cardboard packages of famous consumer brands including Cereal Boxes. Some of the themes I have been exploring & developing over the past 20 years include: Pop Cubist portraits of cereal boxes & other famous consumer brands, Flags, Photo collages, collages made from the text off of packages where I have recreated famous passages in history such as The Gettysburg Address, To Be Or Not To Be, The Preamble, The Declaration of Independence & others, and most recently, Maps.   I began exhibiting my creations in public venues & over the years have produced a series of over 40 different limitedition posters of primexamples of my artworks.   Since the publication of my first book, "An Artist's America" I have been on an artist/author tour of schools, libraries, museums, art galleries & special events where I have developed the "Modern Pop Art Experience" which includes a Pop Art Exhibition of my prints & originals, a presentation where I discuss my art and story, and a hands-on Cereal Box Collage workshop.   I continue to create new art whenever possible & have been commissioned to create various new artworks for individuals, corporations & places of learning as things have evolved.   The homepage of my website www.michaelalbert.com has my schedule of appearances which are all FREE events for the public.   I hope to see you at one of my upcoming programs!
