Artist Statement
Deirdre draws from her art history B.A. and years as a journalist and photo stylist to inform and inspire her students. She enjoys creating pencil portraiture of children, collages on wood, and abstract canvases which use the energy and mood of color and universal form to achieve essences such as strength, peace, confidence or wistfulness. Deirdre has worked as a teaching artist for employers including the Rye Arts Center, the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, and art residencies in the New York and Connecticut public school systems.
