Artist Statement

Anna Povich de Mayor, a member of Pablo Mayor-Folklore Urbano, as well as classical ensembles like the New York Harp Trio and Femmes Four flute quartet, has been actively performing and promoting Colombian music for the past eight years here in NYC.  With Pablo Mayor-Folklore Urbano, she has performed in concert halls and festivals both nationally and internationally.  She has participated in Carnegie Hall's newest outreach program Musical Connections and frequently performs on their neighborhood concert series.  Anna is on the faculty at Turtle Bay Music School, serves as co-director of a Colombian music residency to teach children at PS/IS 217 on Roosevelt Island, and has presented projects that combine classical music, Latin American music, and jazz to audiences on both the west and east coasts.  She toured Australia with the New York Harp Trio in 2008, and is actively involved commissioning and performing new works with the Femmes Four flute quartet.
